Happy 1st Birthday Ava Beth!

I can't believe you will be one year old tomorrow! A year ago tonight, I was miserable and up all night long. Contractions were coming like crazy so the next morning on December 22nd, a friend drove me to Baylor Grapevine in the sleet and snow and eight hours later, you were here! The nurse said I was not in full blown labor but Dr. Neal thought I would be soon so instead of sending me home in the snow, He kept me and induced labor. Daddy showed up in his UPS uniform but Mommy was prepared so he had clothes to change into. The day was incredible and the labor and delivery were both great! I would do it all over again, but not yet! (No Mom, I am not pregnant again! Not yet!) I love to dream about the days my babies were born. I like to envision the people, the nurses, the room and remember how amazing it was the day they came into my life. Those two days supersede anything and everything. There is nothing like it!

I remember the day you were born. You were determined not to enter the world on April 1 so you held out until 2:26 AM April 2, 1976 -- almost 30 years ago. To this day, you are very aware of dates as you were then. You were 6 lbs, 15 1/2 ounces and fuzzy. You looked like Ava Beth except for the hair. No hair for my baby -- just fuzz. I went home 12 hours after you were born. Well, I was only 18 -- had no better sense. You were a joy and you brought hope to me. You are a joy now and you still bring hope to me. I love you. Mom

Wow. Thanks Mom. Yep, I was stubborn. I thought April 2nd would be a better day to be born on than April Fool's day. I'm no fool! I am so glad you were in the room with Jeremy when Ava Beth was born. I will never forget your face when Dr. Neal said, "Sweetie, this girl has a lot of hair!" I can hear your roar of excitment even now. That day was so perfect!!

She is just beautiful...those eyes...I know I say that a lot about her, but it is true! Those eyes and that smile...I know you already do, but count your blessings..she is precious!

I remember that trek over to Baylor Grapevine last year....it took us forever b/c of the snow/ice mixture. These crazy people don't know what to do when we get winter weather!! (Who am I? I was raised in N.LA) Anyway, I remember her little stocking we brought over that she fit in...such a cute and cuddly little package!

My, how time flies...I can't believe it has been a year!
