John 9

Good morning to all of you ladies of John. I will not be writing ANY commentary today, I will leave it to all of you. I have read John 9 but since Josiah is throwing up AGAIN, I am going to try to get some sleep for just a little while. We thought we were in the clear but in the middle of the night it came back! Please, please pray for little Ava Beth and for us too. I really don't want us to get this. Today, I really need strength!

That's weird. I had a dream last night one of girls threw up in their sleep. Please, God, don't let the stomach bug hit us as we travel to Florida next week!

I am convinced more today than ever before that God can heal. NOTHING is impossible for him to correct. Even death. Nearly two weeks ago I saw healings and miracles happen right before my eyes.

To read the story of the blind man receiving his sight I get so excited! God is a God that can give sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf and raise the dead. He did it then and he still does it today!

V2 Asks who sinned the man or his parents. Jesus reply? V3 "Neither this man or his parents sinned."
I think in our human minds we assume that everything is a consequence of something. If_______ is happening it must be because of ________. (Fill in your own blanks) Yet Jesus said neither had sinned "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life."

What has happened in your life that he is/has using/used to display his glory?

V4 As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

He said we must do the work. Not just he. We.

V5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

In Matthew 5:14 JESUS said that we are the light of the world. I believe that the darkness that was to come was when HE died on the cross. HE was abandoned by all of the disciples, and GOD had to look away from HIM. Then HE and we became the light of the world.

All I Read Today: John 9
Best Thing I Marked: John 9:25

Thought: "He replied, 'Whether his is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!' "

How It Impressed Me: It was hard to choose something to write about today. One reason is that I feel extremely disconnected. The other, more important, reason is that the entire chapter spoke to me. In the beginning when Jesus meets the blind man, the disciples asked if it was sin that caused the man's handicap. I love Jesus' answer!! The blind man was CHOSEN to have the handicap so that God would be glorified. Granted our choice to sin can and will bring about consequences, but not every 'bad' thing has sin at its root. Some things happen so that God can work through us and be glorified. I am getting more okay with that each day, but it's still hard to wrap my mind around. Before Jesus, I was dead in my sin with no hope and blinded by the world. What a glorious day when he brought me sight! Although I know without a doubt where my eternity lies, there are still things in my heart I am blind to. Gradually, and ever so gently, God reveals (gives me sight to) something I need to work on to be more like him. My favorite times are when he shows me how far I have come! God - thank you for opening my eyes to you! Please continue to draw me close to you. Prepare my heart for what you need to reveal to me. I can't do this without you!

I read!
I really liked this story because a lot of people are blessed by the Lord everyday and they still dont believe. I love all my blessings from God and I make sure to try in thank him for each and every one of them.
This verse was little confusing: Would someone please elaborate what I think this means into words.... Thanks Guys!
39Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind."

Amanda, God has certainly displayed his work in you. Wow how cool.

Minne,

To answer your question:
Here is something I learned by listening to Steve McVey of GraceWalk.org

God brought the Law so that we would be judged. "And the Law came in that the transgression might increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more" (Romans 5:20).

"Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith" (Galatians 3:24).

that's where Grace comes in. Once we are covered by Christ's blood and no longer are covered by law, we are free to live by grace or "become blind" because we live free.

does that make sense to you?

Have an awesome day - I'm glad I live covered in grace!

V.
